The Associate Degree in Creative Industries is designed as an award for people with a high level of expertise and technical skill in their creative profession who seek a higher education qualification to support their career development in the areas of Creative Industries management, entrepreneurship and innovation; towards a related more senior role; or as a pathway to a higher-level university qualification. The seven foci of the Creative Industries include:

  • Interactive and Digital Design
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Film, Television and Radio
  • Writing and Publishing
  • Advertising and Marketing
  • Media and Communication
  • Visual Arts
The Associate Degree in Creative Industries is an award of the University of Western Sydney (UWS) which is grounded in the practical application of the business and management theories and models and an exploration of issues facing creative industry practitioners and managers from a global perspective. The course has an overall emphasis on developing knowledge and skills applicable to the multidisciplinary environment that creative industries workplaces require, while core units offered focus on the development, management and delivery of a creative industries project or event.


Entry Requirement

 

Academic Criteria

Applicants will be regarded as eligible for admission to the course if they have completed the NSW HSC and attained the required ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) and/or they have completed other equivalent qualifications such as a recognised Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma and attained the required standard set for entry to the course. These may include bridging/preparatory courses, paraprofessional and other post-secondary qualifications.

Professional Experience Criteria

Admission to the Associate Degree in Creative Industries also requires the applicant to have at least 3 years relevant creative industry experience. Relevant experience is any work that you have undertaken in the creative industries and includes vocational internship or secondment with a creative industry company, organisation or venue; and any paraprofessional, semi-professional or professional engagement in a creative endeavour or enterprise within a specified creative industry field.



There are many talented, passionate and energised young people wanting to be effective professionals in live entertainment and events management. We need tertiary courses that arm these young people with sound business practice, practical proficiency in fundamental business and people and project management.
